LA GRANGE PARK, Ill. app One Mississippi and its 75 Mississippi River Network member organizations are proud to announce that June 2 is officially National Mississippi River Day app a day to celebrate, protect, and connect with one of the most vital rivers in the world.
To date, 10 Mississippi River cities, as well as the state of Missouri, have officially proclaimed June 2 as National Mississippi River Day, and more could be on the way. This annual day kicks off One Mississippiapp River Days of Action program, taking place June 1-15.

One Mississippi will celebrate National Mississippi River Day by offering an online event on Monday, June 2, from noon to 1 p.m. CST, bringing together River champions, community leaders, and storytellers from across the Mississippi River. Event registration:
National Mississippi River Day highlights the significance of the River to the United States. It provides drinking water for over 20 million people, is a globally significant ecological corridor home to 260 fish species and 60% of North Americaapp bird species, supports our economy, and weaves together cultures and communities.
June 2 also offers time to reflect on the challenges facing the Riverappand the people who depend on it. This includes growing threats from pollution, habitat destruction, extreme flooding and drought, and disjointed management. The Mississippi River was recently listed #1 on America's Most Endangered Rivers® of 2025, published by American Rivers.

National Mississippi River Day also marks the beginning of the fifth annual River Days of Action, a two-week period from June 1 to 15, featuring in-person and online events, paddling trips, cleanups, educational programs, and advocacy efforts across the 10-state Mississippi River corridor and beyond.
