WAPELLO app Mila Jordan and Taeya Wagner each had two hits and Quinn Zweibohmer twirled a three-hitter as the Wapello High School softball team opened postseason play with a 9-1 victory over WACO in a Class 1A regional first-round game Monday at the Carl appMacapp McGill Athletic Complex.

Wapello (14-12) advances to a regional quarterfinal to face Holy Trinity (19-7) at 7 p.m. Wednesday at South Park in West Point.

WACO ends the season with an 0-23 record.

Jordan scored two runs and drove in another for the Arrows. Avery Jurgill scored three runs, while Jaden Ecklund and Wagner each scored a run.

Wagner drove in two runs, while Kaylor Veach had an RBI.

Zweibohmer pitched six innings, scattering six hits and allowing one unearned run. She walked none and struck out 12.

Natalie Wagler had a triple and a single for the Warriors, while Mei Leichty has one single.
