The Central Southeastern (CSE) girls basketball team opened defense of its State Farm Classic title from 2023 with an impressive 79-42 victory over Stanford Olympia at Normal Community High School on Thursday, Dec. 26.

It was 30-10 after the opening quarter in favor of CSE. A 15-14 second quarter gave them a 45-24 halftime lead. The Lady Panthers kept scoring, knocking in 22 to Stanford Olympia°®¶¹app 16 points in the third quarter to take a 67-40 lead into the final period. The Lady Panthers outscored the Lady Spartans 12-2 in the fourth quarter to cruise to a 79-42 victory and move into the second round on the winner°®¶¹app side of the bracket.

Stats: Lauren Miller led all scorers with 27 points. Karly Peters and Lexi Niekamp were next with 13 points each. Agnes Genenbacher tossed in eight points. Kayli Bockhold tallied six points. Gwen Huston had five points. Anna Peters, Emma Stephens and Sophie Turner collected two points each and Marlee Long had one point in the win. Madi Barnes was the leading scorer for the Lady Spartans with 12 points. Elyse Eimer added 11 points. Anna Gordon booked seven points. Grace Small and Amelia Kistner netted four points each. Grace Carter-Nagrocki and Morgan Huffington finished with two points each.
